Decorative materials are an unusual category in lamination. The technical requirements aren’t especially extreme like bond strength, heat resistance, dimensional stability but the tolerance for visual defects is almost zero. A bubble, a streak, or a wrinkle in decorative film is a reject. In wallpaper, it’s a customer complaint.

At the same time, the market has shifted. Interior designers and end-users care about what’s on the walls and what it’s off-gassing. Low-VOC and formaldehyde-free claims are no longer niche, they’re increasingly what specifiers and retailers require.

Solventless lamination addresses both sides of that: cleaner visual output because there’s no solvent evaporation disturbing the adhesive layer during curing, and no residual solvents in the finished product that can off-gas once the wallpaper or film is installed indoors.

Sinstar has supplied lamination equipment to decorative material manufacturers across multiple markets. We understand the SKU variety, the short-run requirements, and the quality standards this industry works to.

Why Decorative Material Manufacturers Choose Us

Visually clean lamination

No solvent in the adhesive means no micro-bubbling during cure — one of the most common defect sources on solvent-based lines running decorative film. Combined with precision digital glue metering (±0.1 g/m²), you get consistent, defect-free output across the full web width.

Short-run capable

The decorative materials market runs on variety. A wallpaper converter might be running a dozen different designs in a single shift. Our Suplock series supports non-stop reel changes and fast job transitions, which makes short-run personalized production commercially viable rather than a scheduling headache.

Products that meet indoor air quality requirements

No residual solvents means finished wallpaper, decorative film, and interior facing materials don’t off-gas once installed. Relevant for manufacturers selling into markets with formaldehyde or VOC content regulations, or for brands that want to make credible environmental claims.

Lower operating cost than solvent-based

No oven, no solvent procurement, no VOC emission management. The cost delta versus a traditional solvent dry lamination line adds up quickly over a full year of production.
